Independent International Students
International students applying independently (NOT on an EXCHANGE), must fill out
the:
Fort Lewis College International Student Application for Admission.
What Happens Next?
You must submit your application electronically to our Office of Admission. Please
see the Office of Admission website at:
http://www.fortlewis.edu/prospective_students/admission/default.asp for
specific application instructions. The Office of Admission issues the I-20, the
document that is required to obtain your visa, allowing you to study in the U.S.
You will also be assigned a student identification number. This number is in lieu
of an American Social Security number and will be the ID number used on all official
school documents.
The original I-20 will be sent to you via express mail to your
permanent home address. Make sure this address is
complete and clearly filled in on your application.
After you are officially admitted to Fort Lewis College,
you will be sent the following information in the same packet as your I-20.
- Housing information and an application/contract. This form is for on-campus housing
only. Send forms directly to the Housing Office. Housing will notify you directly
of your on-campus housing placement about one month prior to your arrival.
- Medical requirements and immunization verification card.
All forms and paperwork must be
sent directly to the addresses provided in the Admissions packet.
IMPORTANT!
Students must apply through the
Office of Admission. They do not go through the International Programs Office at
any time in the application process.
