International Exchange Students
These students are participants of an exchange program for either one semester or a full academic year. Incoming exchange students are non-degree seeking students. We have an established reciprocal agreement with their home school that waives the tuition and fee requirements during their stay at Fort Lewis.

Incoming Exchange Students must fill out the:  Reciprocal Exchange Application

Please fill out the application and print out, then send the application to:
International Programs Office
Fort Lewis College

Steps toward attending Fort Lewis College:
  1. Meet with your home school advisor for general information about Fort Lewis College and your school's requirements for participation.
  2. After acceptance from your home school, fill out the Reciprocal Exchange Application (above).

What Happens Next?
On receipt of your FLC application, the International Programs Office will forward your application to our Office of Admission. This office issues the I-20, the document that is required to obtain your visa, allowing you to study in the U.S. You will also be assigned a student identification number. This number is in place of an American social security number and will be the ID number used on all official school documents.

The original I-20 will be sent to you via express mail to your permanent home address. Make sure this address is complete and clearly filled in on your application.

After you are officially admitted to FLC, you will be sent the following information in the same packet as your I-20.
  1. Housing information and an application/contract. This form is for on-campus housing only. Send forms directly to the Housing Office. Housing will notify you directly of your on-campus housing placement about one month prior to your arrival.

  2. Medical requirements and immunization verification card.
