You should check with Financial Aid Office first. Also, you might want to consider the following scholarships. Individual scholarships have different deadlines and eligibilities. You need to check individual websites and make sure to start the application process as soon as possible. *************************************************************************** Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Fifty $1,000 grants are awarded each year. Eligibility: Deadlines: Around first/second week of February every year. Gilman International Scholarship The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies abroad. Such international study is intended to better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world. Check their website for specific date. http://www.iie.org/programs/gilman/index.html Boren Awards for International Studies Boren Scholarships provide American undergraduate students with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future security of our nation, in exchange for their commitment to seek work in the federal government. Maximum scholarship awards are: $10,000 for a semester, $20,000 for a full academic year. Petters Foundation The John T. Petters Foundation seeks deserving students who are interested in international business and looking to expand their knowledge of other countries and cultures. Bridging Scholarships for Study in Japan This scholarship provides a $2,500 stipend for undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan during the Fall Semester (students on year-long programs receive $4,000). Students in any major are eligible and Japanese language ability is not required. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. Selection is based on academic potential and financial need. There are awards for undergraduate students to post-doctoral scholars in every field imaginable. Ranges from financial support for 3-week courses to full-year financial support for an academic year abroad. http://www.daad.org/?p=46130 CIEE Scholarships Each year CIEE awards scholarships and grants to students who plan to study overseas. Please read the eligibility criteria and the application procedures for each scholarship carefully. http://www.ciee.org/study/scholarships.aspx#isp Semester at Sea ISE Scholarships Semester at Sea and the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) provide $2.6 million in aid to students each year. ISE offers a broad offering of awards to assist as many students as possible. It is our mission to make sure that all qualified students interested in Semester at Sea are able to sail regardless of financial resources. Need-Based Grants: These grants are awarded by the Institute for Shipboard Education to help make the program a reality for all students regardless of financial status. Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000. Merit Grants: Students may apply for merit-based aid if they maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above. Additional consideration will be given to those students demonstrating leadership within their campus or community. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000. Seamans-Kruse Scholarship: This scholarship was made possible by the generosity of SAS alummus Scott Seamans and the Anthony H. Kruse Foundation. This partnership celebrates our shared mission to encourage young people to reach their highest potential, and to create in them the courage to "embrace risk and change" on their way to becoming future global leaders. Students must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA to be considered for this award. Three $2,500 grants are awarded per semester. Diversity Abroad Scholarships: Awarded in partnership with DiversityAbroad.com, the Semester at Sea/Diversity Abroad Scholarships are available for summer and fall voyages only. Scholarships are valued at 50% off the cost of the least expensive cabin category available at the time of confirmation. Up to five scholarships will be awarded for the fall voyage. Up to ten scholarships will be awarded for the summer voyage. Applicants must submit an essay to DiversityAbroad.com (check back here soon for link to submission instructions). Applicants must submit to ISE a brief financial aid application form (available soon for download here). Deadline to submit all application materials to both DiversityAbroad.com and to ISE is a minimum of six weeks prior to embarkation, though much sooner if possible in order to guarantee availability of preferred cabin category. Alumni Scholarships: These awards are made possible by the generosity of gifts from our alumni. Students will be expected to correspond with the donor if selected. Students must have a 3.25 GPA or have exhibited personal leadership.
